One of the joys of summer is that you get to spend more time outdoors, and if you’re lucky enough to have one, that means time in the garden. But while you’re enjoying the sun don’t leave your security to chance.

Opportunists know that’s the case and might try your front door in the hope that it’s unlocked, and that you won’t hear them enter from the back of the house.

The chances are that your shed or garage contains more valuables than you realise. Bikes, tools, lawnmower, camping equipment – all these things are attractive to intruders, so protect them by installing a security system on outbuildings.

Here are a few simple summer security tips for protecting your garden and other outdoor spaces.

Secure the front when you’re out back

If you have a back garden, you’ll no doubt be out there for as much of the summer time as possible, whether that’s BBQing, playing with the kids, mowing the lawn or simply soaking up the sun.

Beat them at their own game by always locking your front door and windows. That way you really can enjoy the sun without worrying about unwanted guests.

High-definition security cameras can be the ultimate deterrent for intruders. Knowing they’re being watched is enough to put most off from targeting your home, garden and outbuildings, so consider adding external camera to your home CCTV system.

Light up the outdoors

No intruder likes working in the dark, so make sure the lights never go out. Fit motion-activated outdoor lights as part of your garden security and you can enjoy the summer safe in the knowledge that any unwanted visitors will always be lit up and in full view.
